“Slingshots” and air currents have become new ways to speed up movement on the web, while on the wingsuit (available with every costume) you can fly around the city without it at all. Peter feuds with her over her murderous tendancies, but Yuri doesn’t care, widening the rift. Apart from her darker personality, she’s using more blades and chains than the comics’ fear gas and highly advanced tech she stole from Mysterio. Cletus bonded with the red symbiote in the comics to become Carnage.

They’ve gotten bored with chasing game in other parts of the world, but NYC’s heroes and villains represent a new challenge. At the end of the game’s second act, Peter saves Miles from Kraven before the two Spider-Men face off, as Miles tries to get Peter to give up the Symbiote. Miles defeats Peter and captures the Symbiote before the two of them bring the alien suit back to the destroyed rubble of the April May foundation. This fight concludes the game’s second act and sets up a tense final act, as Peter and Harry are set to face off as enemies. On July 20, 2023, we finally got the official story trailer for Spider-Man 2, showing off new details of the story, as well as some gameplay and cutscenes, including the first look at the beefed-up Venom villain in-game.

Amazing Suit

None of that’s necessarily a dealbreaker, though—the real problem is the characters. On the whole it’s a tried and true set-up for a Spider-Man story—the perils of leading a double life, making sacrifices to do the right thing, all that jazz. But that does also mean it’s a story we’ve seen an awful lot of times before, not only across films, TV, and comics, but also in the previous two games in this series. That being said, I can’t help but have hoped for a few more flashes of Gotham City to make their way into New York. That’s not to say there aren’t benefits to taking a sneaky route, though, especially when you’re playing as Miles and using his invisibility power to quietly take out enemies.

The new parry mechanic is essential to dealing with some of the undodgeable strikes particular enemies use. You can still swing away to escape, but a well-timed parry not only stops the incoming attack but leaves an enemy vulnerable to further damage. And then there’s the new Web Line mechanic which lets you craft your own high wire paths across specific points in the environment, giving you even more control and flexibility over stealth takedowns.
